And A Closing Thought from This Year's Event...

 

Hello,

I just wanted to share that your tournament and the Briski family will always be remembered as special to us.  I am one of the coaches from the 12u Milpitas Renegades.  I thought I might share this in person but felt the weekend was for Alexis.

My partner of 24 years and the biological mom to both of our children passed away on Sept. 10 of this year after battling ovarian cancer for the past 3 years.  This is only our second year with the Renegades and I have quickly come to understand the healing powers team sports can have.  Our team, parents included, have been made aware how difficult and unfair this disease is and as adults and coaches we have done our best to share with our girls how they should appreciate what they have today because you never know what tomorrow may bring.  Both Barb and I were former NCAA softball players and team sports have always been close to our hearts.  Barb coached our son in Little League this past season and she did not make it out to every game but she made practices even the days following chemo.  She taught the kids and parents how to be strong and how to do the things you love, even if you were not always up to your best.  I sense the Magic organization has this same passion.  I am certain your tournament has helped with the healing of the loss of Alexis as well.  I know for certain her spirit and now Barb's as well, will follow all of us and will make us better people.  Our team recently added the teal (color for ovarian) cancer hope decals to our batting helmets as a way to always remember this time.  I know our daughter Katie feels her mom out there with her as she continues to hit home runs to the heavens.  The moment she hit the ball yesterday at Blossom Hill that went into the parking lot was a ball with wings.

Thank you for having this tournament to honor the amazing strength, fight and love of the game, I know Alexis had.

Sponsored by the Los Gatos - Saratoga Girls Softball Association's Magic program, this annual event funds several worthy programs including scholarships that are awarded annually each June to deserving graduating seniors from Los Gatos and Saratoga High Schools.  We look forward to another terrific tournament in 2011.
