Volunteer as a Team Parent, Manager or Coach
Coaching or being a team parent is a great way to participate in the LGSGSA, sharing your enthusiasm for youth fastpitch softball with our players as they learn and develop their skills. While coaching roles are now filled, there is a need for each team to have a designated, registered team parent. Please login to the league registration system and sign up to be a team parent on your team.
For everyone registered with the LGSGSA as a volunteer managers/coach, each of you are required to take and pass the NorCAL ASA organization's ACE Certification class. This certification includes an overview about the game of fastpitch softball, training on key fundamentals, and an understanding of proper game play and sportsmanship. Please note that as a volunteer you will be responsible for a small fee associated with the ACE certification (which includes a required background check). Anyone on the field working with our league for recreation or travel ball teams must be an ACE certified coach.
More information about ACE will be presented at the mandatory managers/coaches meeting on Saturday, February 5th, Foothill Elementary Cafeteria. You can learn about ACE and complete the registration and certification process by going to the NorCal ASA website. Choose the Junior Olympic program option and then click on ACE Clinics. You'll find General Information link and then the link to their online site for ACE certification materials, testing, etc.
Recreation season play is a terrific introduction to coaching for those interested volunteers that have no prior experience or limited experience, and the kids love having a lot of qualified coaches helping them throughout the year. Softball is a game of practice and repetition to develop player fundamentals and assemble players into a cohesive team. Welcome! And thanks for joining us as we embark on a fun and memorable new year in 2011.
If you have questions or want to volunteer, please contact us.
All inquiries can be sent via email to info@lgsgsa.org.
Thank you for supporting the LGSGSA.
